Karl’s Kids’ Mission

Our mission is to help Lincoln County youth get involved in athletics when they otherwise may not be afforded the opportunity.

Our organization has been serving children in Maine since 2007. Our goal is to make sure children have the opportunity to be involved in athletics and pursue an active lifestyle. Early on in development it is critical for children to learn the concepts of teamwork and stay healthy and active through athletic activities. We want to make sure every child has such an opportunity.

Karl's Kids is inspired by Karl Berger

What We Do

Karl’s Kids honors the late Karl Berger by helping “make dreams real” by purchasing sports equipment, uniforms, safety gear and many other items, or otherwise assisting with expenses that might prevent local youth from getting involved in sports.

Karl Berger

Karl Berger (1944 – 2007) was an athletic, playful and generous community leader. In addition to his own two sons, Karl was a role model for many youngsters. Karl enjoyed downhill skiing, golfing, baseball – as a pitcher, coach and umpire for many decades – boating, swimming, basketball, horseback riding, tennis, hiking and playing with children wherever he lived or traveled. He also had a passion for serving his community, both as a town selectman in Bremen and as Treasurer of the Damariscotta-Newcastle Rotary.
